That all sounds great, but...

Like the idea of healing but think it all sounds a bit woo-woo? First of all, there's nothing wrong with woo-woo, the human brain is a powerful thing but read on to discover the science behind what we do.

Sound Therapy

Sound therapy is an ancient practice. Looking back through history the local medicine people would have gongs and offer gong baths as a way to heal. More recently, research has shown our parasympathetic nervous system (the part that promotes relaxation, rest and energy conservation) is more active when tuned into certain sounds like birdsong, as in our ancestors this would signal safety and a lack of predators.

All objects emit a frequency, and the instruments used in our sound healing sessions are picked because of the frequency they emit. Listening to a sound bath is relaxing, but it works on a deeper level. Resonance is the scientific term for what happens during a sound bath - the frequency that your brain is operating at begins to match the frequency of the powerful instruments used in a sound bath - the gong and the crystal bowls.

During a sound bath, your brainwaves alter to match that of the frequencies around you, taking you out of the Beta brain wave - what we use everyday to be alert, function, think, plan, and do, and taking you into the relaxation brainwave, Alpha.

This is perfectly safe and throughout the day your brain will naturally be changing frequencies, reaching Delta and Theta state in sleep. When your body is in the relaxed states Alpha, Delta and Theta, your body is more prone to self healing and regeneration.

SMRT - Somatic Memory Reprogramming

Dr Bessell Van Der Kolk started a movement in trauma therapy with the release of the popular book "The Body Keeps the Score". This research along with many others in the field discovered how trauma is stored in the body and crucially the impact of trauma on the autonomous nervous system.

This signalled a turning point as it discovered what many people who have experienced trauma have long suspected, treating just the memory and focussing on psychology alone will not aid full recovery.

SMRT is a technique that combines the neuroscience of memory repatterning, a theory that has long been established and accepted in CBT therapy, with somatic movement, hypnotherapy and eye movement desensitisation therapy - made famous by Prince Harry.

The effects are rapid, because the therapy is working with the memory at the root cause of the issue, and truly life changing, releasing pain, limiting beliefs, fears and childhood trauma to allow you to step into the person you are beneath the layers of negativity.
